Your Javascript is currently disabled.
That depend on what browser you're using. Chances are, it's Internet Explorer. I'll write those instructions next time I boot up in Windows and have access to IE.
In Firefox (v 2.0), go to Preferences ("Tools">"Preferences" in Windwos, "Firefox">"Preferences" in Moc OS X), and click on the "Content" tab. Check "Enable Javascript".
In Safari, go to Prefences ("Safari">"Preferences"), click on "Security", then check the "Enable Javascript" checkbox.
Browsers--even Internet Explorer--are much more secure than they were in the past. This isn't to say they are completely without their occasional vulnerabilities, of course, but conditions are much better. The simple rule of thumb applies: stay away from shady sites. Perhaps if you care to go through the effort, disable Javascript wen and only when you are browsing these shady sites, if you must. But almost every decent website these days relies on some bit of javascript functionality for its intended interface. Browsing without it is like riding a horse-and-buggy--sure, it'll get you around, but it stinks.
Another reason people claim for disabling Javascript is avoidance of the list of annoyances that may be brought by them: pop-ups, animations & sounds, preventing change of focus, etc. Well sounds and animations can be there with or without Javascript. Most of the other stuff you don't see too often anymore, except perhaps on some middle-school kids' websites. Modern browsers--even Internet Explorer--also prevent some of this behavior in misbehaving sites. Again, while you're surfing on good territory, Javascript should give you no worries
So I say enable Javascript. It will make your web browsing on this and other sites so much more enjoyable.
